Check out this great picture afront today’s Pioneer of Bemidji, Minn.
That is a man preparing to fish on the ice Monday on Lake Bemidji. What an interesting reflection of the man on the ice. What a gorgeous treeline shimmers in the distant haze.
I can’t say we see a lot of ice on the Chesapeake Bay here in Virginia Beach. I’ll just have to live vicariously through this picture.
Pioneer sports reporter Jack Hittinger tells us the photo…
…was taken by staff photographer Monte Draper. He’s our only photog and he’s everywhere all the time. He’s great at getting cool nature/outdoor photos like these especially.
The Pioneer wisely used this picture big, above the fold on today’s front page.
The didn’t quite succeed in getting out of its way, though: I wish the designer could have put a little more distance between the fishing picture and the Christmas tree shopping art.
But still: Great job on the pictures.
